BUILDING.
TRUST.

GENERAL CONTRACTING & CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

The SITKAWEST STORY

“Not only do we build buildings, we build trust. Our quality relationships are critical to our success and extend from every team member to our construction managers to the clients and me, the president. Our integrity and transparency are recognized in the industry and reflected in the services we provide. Just ask our clients.”

 Jamie Kossowan, President

SitkaWest was founded on the belief that we could set ourselves apart from competitors through an unwavering commitment to high-quality results, project schedules, and budgets while prioritizing our employees’ health, safety and career growth.

Started in 2016 by our president Jamie Kossowan, SitkaWest was the natural next step for Jamie. The son of a seasoned site superintendent, he grew up close to construction sites and developed an inherent understanding of the industry. Though Jamie attended Simon Fraser University to study business administration, he was drawn back to construction and completed his Red Seal in Carpentry. By his mid-20s, he managed construction sites and actively pursued skills growth, ultimately achieving the coveted Professional Gold Seal as a Superintendent and starting SitkaWest.

TRANSPARENCY.
INTEGRITY.
RESPONSIBLE.
PROGRESSIVE.

Many tag words are used these days, so when we were asked to come up with some words that define us, we chose these ones. They define each of us, from the president to the workers on site. We work together because we truly are a team of like-minded individuals committed to what we do.

SitkaWest was founded on the belief that we could set ourselves apart from the rest. We strive to deliver high-quality results on budget and on time or better. We have a steadfast commitment to ensuring the health and safety of our employees are protected.

We build not only buildings but relationships based on trust. This means our team works with integrity and practices full transparency. This is reflective of the services we provide; just ask our clients.

As we grow, we hope that our successors will continue to lead with the same passion we started this organization with.

WE WORK TOGETHER WITH CORE VALUES

Tied to building trust, every action we take as individuals must be completed with the utmost integrity. We make difficult decisions daily, sometimes not to our business benefit. From the carpenters, to accounting department, to president, the future of our business depends on this.

Why do we do what we do? We always ask why we chose construction, and the common denominator is because we all have a shared passion for what we do. We CARE. But past that, what else drives those within our business? We ask why are we doing what we are doing, in nearly every action. We take the time to perform our duties with intention, and our leadership demonstrates this every single day.

We can tell you what we are capable of, but we would rather show you. Understandably, reservations can be had, so we let our references speak for our work and let our demonstrable success speak for itself.

“We build not only buildings, but relationships based on trust. This means our team works with integrity and practices full transparency. This is reflective in the services we provide. Just ask our clients.”

  • Cut from the same cloth as his father, a seasoned site superintendent, Jamie started his construction career as a teenager. After studying business administration at Simon Fraser University, the pull of the worksite lured him back to the trades. He completed his Red Seal in carpentry and was soon managing construction sites. A lifelong learner, he continued the mastery of his trade, receiving the coveted Professional Gold Seal designation as a Superintendent and, ultimately, founding SitkaWest in 2016.

Jamie’s extensive experience as a site supervisor, coupled with the comprehensive knowledge of field operations, inform his deep and detailed understanding of every SitkaWest project. He can anticipate challenges, mitigate risks and implement corrective actions before project schedules and budgets are impacted. His impressive grasp of building science allows him to contribute effectively to design phases and value engineering.
